4 Victims Shot at Howe Park - Unauthorized Event Results in Shooting
On Saturday evening, a large unauthorized party of an estimated several hundred individuals at Howe Community Park in the Arden-Arcade area of Sacramento erupted in gunfire when between 20 and 25 shots rang out as Sacramento County Sheriff's Office deputies were actively clearing the area.
The Incident
At approximately 6:30 PM, the Sacramento County law enforcement was notified regarding individuals who may have been carrying concealed weapons at the park. Another caller described a potential physical confrontation and people leaving the area quickly.
Law enforcement air support was called in and swept the area but failed to identify an active fight.
Despite this, multiple hundreds of people had come together at Howe Community Park for what the sheriff's office identified as an unsanctioned event. Officers set up around the park, illuminated the area with emergency lights, and took about 15 minutes commanding the crowd to clear out using public address systems.
As law enforcement was clearing the area, 20 to 25 gunshots were fired — triggering a panicked crowd in every direction.
The Victims
Four website gunshot victims — one female and three males, each in their 20s — were transported to area hospitals. Two sustained immediate injuries, one suffered moderate injuries, and one was treated for minor injuries. Each of the four victims was in stable condition. The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District was on scene and assisted at the location.
The Crime Scene
The incident occurred on the Cottage Way side read more side of the park near the Home Depot store at the 2200 block of Howe Avenue. The nearby Home Depot was locked down for a period of time. The Suspect Vehicle
Over scanner traffic, it was revealed that a vehicle connected to the shooting — a Kia — was pulled over in the Solano County get more info area with four detainees.
